Every year, 76 million people are sickened, 325,000 are hospitalized and 5,000 die due to food-borne illnesses. This week, the Senate passed SB 510, which bolsters the Food and Drug Administration’s authority to demand recalls of tainted food. What are the likely impacts of the new bill?
