On Thursday, an EPA watchdog office released a comprehensive report declaring that a lack of EPA oversight as well as serious mismanagement at the local and state level contributed to the 2014 Flint water crisis. The report also recommends more federal oversight of state drinking water programs as states across the country continue to deal with lead pipes and old infrastructure. We explore exactly what happened in Flint and discuss how the lessons learned in Michigan apply to California’s own drinking water systems.
