At 76, author Barbara Ehrenreich has decided she won’t be going to her yearly medical check ups anymore. Ehrenreich explains her reasoning in a new book, “Natural Causes: An Epidemic of Wellness, the Certainty of Dying, and Killing Ourselves to Live Longer.” Putting her PhD in biology to work, Ehrenreich casts a skeptical eye on preventative medicine, New Age practices, elaborate exercise plans, and other anti-aging regimens that attempt to eke out more mileage from our lives.
