Film historian David Thomson begins his new book by observing that “movies had always encouraged the idea that we were safe, secure, and warm in the dark.” But in 1960, all that was about to change with the release of Alfred Hitchcock’s “Psycho.” Thomson’s new book provides an almost scene-by-scene account of the movie and how it changed American cinema. He joins us to talk about “Psycho” and Hitchcock’s lasting legacy.
