Donna George Storey’s Thirteen Views of Grief is an impactful, personal, and stirring look at the death of a beloved family member. Inspired by Hokusai’s series of woodblock prints, Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji, each section of Thirteen Views of Grief adopts a different perspective towards the death of the author’s father, with tones ranging from elegiac to humorous. The essay first appeared in the Tampa Review, a literary journal published by the University of Tampa, Florida.
