Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, the annual free musical festival, returns to Golden Gate Park for its 18th edition for the weekend of Oct. 5–7. As its name suggests, the festival has branched outside of the bluegrass, folk and country realm in recent years, sprinkling their lineups with unusual surprises like last year’s set from New Orleans’ queen of bounce, Big Freedia, who brought audience members up on stage for a twerk contest.

This year’s Hardly Strictly lineup was chosen by a new curator, Chris Porter, following the departure of longtime talent booker Dawn Holliday. The event features over 80 acts on six stages.

A few highlights from this year’s Hardly Strictly lineup, announced Tuesday, include rising bluegrass band I’m With Her; veteran Angeleno rockers Los Lobos; New Orleans indie rock, neo-soul and folk band Hurray for the Riff Raff; singer-songwriter Ani DiFranco; Graham Nash of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young; and Jeff Tweedy of Wilco.
