Teens suffered the same traumas as their parents during the North Bay Fires. They too lost their homes, their possessions, the places they love the most, even if they hated life in a small town. Olivia O’Brien, the 17-year-old songstress, can relate. O’Brien lives in Los Angeles now, but she grew up in Napa, and she doesn’t have many fond memories of the city. She says she was bullied by other kids, but she was still heartbroken when she heard about the fire.
“The one thing I really loved was the scenery, the vineyards the hills,” she told me by phone after a recording session. “If I was feeling sad, I could just take a drive up into the hills, up on Partrick Road, and it would just always make me feel better. So when I heard about the fire, the most devastating thing for me was all that beautiful stuff had burned down.”
Gundlach Bundschu Winery President Jeff Bundschu has booked O’Brien for an all ages fire benefit concert at the winery’s Redwood Barn. The little 200-seat music hall should fill up fast. Details here.
