The Stern Grove festival has announced its 80th anniversary lineup of free concerts for 2017, including Mavis Staples, Amadou and Mariam, Eric Burdon and The Animals, WAR, Fantastic Negrito, Brazilian Girls, Nicki Bluhm and The Gramblers, Los Ángeles Azules and more.

The festival kicks off June 25 with Kool & the Gang and local soul act Quinn DeVeaux. As ever, since 1938, the San Francisco Symphony performs in the grove, this year on July 9, and the San Francisco Ballet performs July 30.

Aug. 6 – Amadou & Mariam and Ibibio Sound Machine

Aug. 13 – WAR and Malo

Aug. 20 – Brazilian Girls and Moon Hooch

Aug. 27 – Mavis Staples and Kev Choice Ensemble

All concerts are free, and begin at 2pm at Sigmund Stern Grove at 19th and Sloat in San Francisco. The festival includes artist talks, kid outreach days, world-premiere commissions and more. For more details, see Stern Grove’s site.
