The last time Sleater-Kinney played the Bay Area was a two-night stand at the Great American Music Hall, in 2006. The songs, culled mostly from The Woods, were loud and ferocious. The covers included songs by Bruce Springsteen and Richard & Linda Thompson. And the drinks were flowing, including a special concoction at the Great American bar called “The Ladyman.”
Now, Carrie Brownstein, Corin Tucker and Janet Weiss have returned with a vengeance. A new retrospective box set, Start Together, is just the beginning; a new album No Cities to Love is due next year, and a North American tour includes a stop in San Francisco.
Sleater Kinney plays May 2 at the Masonic, and tickets, sure to be in demand after the band’s eight-year hiatus, go on sale to the general public Friday at 12 noon.
But wait! You can score tickets one day early by downloading Live Nation’s mobile app. No other trick to it—just download the app, and you’ll be able to buy tickets on your mobile device a day ahead of everyone else.
Presales for the San Francisco show start Thursday, Dec. 11, at 10am right here.
