The World Cup may have ended, but that doesn't mean you need to stop pretending you're European. Sure, you could wander around Fisherman's Wharf and have a seagull eat your overpriced crab sandwich. Or you could throw caution to the wind and take part in the Great Bull Run.
In short, two American entrepreneurs have brought Spain's Running of the Bulls stateside. Because why fly across the Atlantic to get gored by a 1,500 pound bull when you can do so right here in the Bay Area?
What: A 1/4 mile run alongside bulls that can reach speeds up to 35 mph. Usain Bolt can only sprint 27 mph, which is to say, the bulls will outrun you so bring good shoes. When you're finished being chased, there's a huge tomato fight.
When: July 26, 2014
Where: Alameda Fairgrounds
Cost: $60 (plus tax) gets you the run, the tomato fight, a bandana, t-shirt and one beer.
