Lawmakers Hope to Close 'Use Tax' Revenue Hole
As April 17 approaches, state leaders in Sacramento are nervously waiting to see what kind of tax revenue comes in -- and thus, what kind of budget they can hash out. But every year, the Board of Equalization estimates it's losing out on $1 billion in unpaid taxes on online sales by out-of-state businesses.

Now scientists have identified an infected lemon pomelo tree in Los Angeles County. With California's $2 billion citrus industry on the line, regulators have established an agricultural quarantine in the area.
