At about 8:30 p.m. Oakland police declared an unlawful assembly and asked the thousands of protesters gathered at Frank Ogawa Plaza to disperse.

Thousands of protesters who were marching in Fruitvale join the group at Frank Ogawa Plaza. More than 90 police line the city hall. Meanwhile, the drum circles and marching bands began playing in earnest.

San Franciso

About two hundred protesters marched from downtown San Francisco to Turk and Gough where they took over a building owned by the San Francisco Catholic Archdiocese. A month earlier protesters had tried to take over the same building.

Jesse Nesbitt, 34, of San Francisco, began throwing bricks, pipes and other debris at police and protesters alike after 888 Turk was cleared out. He is charged with aggravated assault, aggravated assault of a police officer and felony vandalism.
Oakland

Hundreds of protesters gathered at Frank Ogawa Plaza in the afternoon. A woman was arrested at 14th and Broadway in downtown Oakland. This arrest set off scuffles between protesters and police.
