BART 'Redoubles' Commitment to Resolve Strike After Deaths
Federal authorities have launched an investigation into the deaths of two Bay Area Rapid Transit workers fatally struck by a train over the weekend. Two maintenance workers were hit Saturday as they inspected a stretch of track. Many union members wondered aloud about the fact the driver of the train was a BART manager. BART's directors said in a statement the tragedy has "redoubled" their commitment to a quick resolution of the strike, and they are open to restarting mediation.
