Top Ed Official: States Should Follow California in Helping Undocumented Students
The nation's acting Education Secretary John King says states should follow California's lead in helping more undocumented students get into and pay for college. He visited San Francisco State University on Tuesday, where he unveiled a first-ever resource guide aimed at helping high schools and colleges do a better job counseling undocumented students.
Feds Consider Cutting High Cost of Inmate Phone Calls
For the 80,000 inmates held in California's county jails, calling home can be more than 10 times the price of a regular cell phone call. The Federal Communication Commission will vote Thursday on a proposal to change that, making calls cheaper for inmates across the country, and potentially helping keep them from re-offending.
