California Senate President Kevin de Leon has been buoyant after the end of the legislative session, after most of his priorities were passed by lawmakers. That includes Senate Bill 1234. That bill would create a retirement fund for private employees who don't have access to retirement accounts. De Leon, who grew up near downtown San Diego, says he was partly inspired by watching his family work.
