Preview Screening: Wired for Connection
Join the Curry Senior Center and KQED Live for a preview screening of the new documentary Wired for Connection.
Wired for Connection spotlights the biological imperative for social bonding, contrasting our evolutionary need for connection with the rising paradox of modern isolation in the digital age. Featuring groundbreaking research, from primate field studies to advanced neuroscience, the film reveals the physiological toll of disconnection across the human lifespan, linking loneliness directly to disease and cognitive decline. Featured in the film, Curry Senior Center’s Lunch Bunch humanizes an issue that is a greater health risk than smoking 15 cigarettes a day.
Wired for Connection also explores a range of innovative, practical solutions, spanning ancient contemplative practices and cutting-edge technology, to empower viewers to cultivate social connections and foster healthier communities.
Following the film, Dr. Matthew Pantell (UCSF) and Dr. Ashwin Kotwal (UCSF) will participate in a panel to discuss emerging science around human connection and answer audience questions.
Wired for Connection premieres on PBS and KQED 9 on June 1. It was produced by Kikim Media and is distributed with support of KQED Presents.
