Despite challenging weather conditions, congested streets and heavy delays on BART, over 100,000 people descended on downtown San Francisco on Saturday, Jan. 21 to demonstrate against President Trump. KQED sent reporters all over the Bay Area to cover some of the more creative expressions of protesters, which we documented throughout the day here.
As Joan Baez said in her speech at the rally:
“We need to be empathetic where there is no empathy,
We need to be kind, when kindness is not in the forefront,
We need to be willing to fight for things people don’t talk about much… ”
We invite you to relive moments from the protest, captured on camera by KQED Arts video producer Claudia Escobar.
