Apply for KQED’s Digital Community Fellowship and a grant of up to $15,000 for your newsroom!
What is it?
KQED’s Digital Community Fellowship is a virtual 15-week program bringing together public media professionals to develop an online community for their radio show, podcast, or digital publication.
Digital Community Fellows will learn best practices for building an online community using the chat app Discord. You’ll develop moderation and engagement strategies that fit your newsroom needs, and collaborate on a “playbook” for other news organizations looking to engage in meaningful relationships with their audiences online.
KQED received funding from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) to award grants to participating public media organizations. We’re offering grants of up to $15,000 to create and manage your own digital community over the course of the fellowship. The deadline to apply is Nov 4, 2024.
Who is this for?
This program is open to public media organizations serving local or regional communities in California. We’re looking for media partners who produce radio shows, podcasts, or digital publications with an element of audience involvement.
