Listen below. An edited transcript follows the audio.\u003c/p>\n\u003cp>Also, here's an edited \u003ca href=\"http://ww2.kqed.org/news/2011/07/13/deshon-marman-wont-be-charged-in-saggy-pants-case/#transcript\">transcript\u003c/a> of an interview that KQED intern Erin Ferguson conducted with John McDonald, VP of Communications at US Airways, before the announcement that no charges would be filed. \u003c/p>\n\u003cp>McDonald was reacting to San Francisco Supervisor Malia Cohen's call for a board resolution in support of Marman, including a request that US Airways apologize. What was the reasoning? Why did he need to ask him to get off the plane? That's the key question. For what? You shouldn't have been bothering him anyway about his clothing. You didn't bother the other passenges about their choice of clothing. So why would you bother Deshon? And, there's no dress code. And I've yet to find out what he did wrong other than ask the pilot why do I need to get off the plane? And then he trusted the San Mateo Sheriff's Department, when he said if you get off the plane, we're going to put you on another plane. "content": "\u003cp>(Bay City News) Close to 100 protesters gathered before the start of Monday evening's commute for a demonstration at the Civic Center BART station in San Francisco, and in response to the crowd's disruption of evening train service at the station, BART has temporarily suspended service at that station. Further reports indicated that Powell station was also closed when the protesters moved to that station.\u003c/p>\n\u003cp>San Francisco Municipal Railway service at Civic Center station has also been suspended.\u003c/p>\n\u003cp>Last week, BART police shot and killed a knife-wielding man at Civic Center, and the group No Justice, No BART said it is demanding that the BART Police Department be disbanded.\u003c/p>\n\u003cp>The group is also demanding that both of the two officers involved in the July 3 shooting of 45-year-old Charles Hill be fired and criminally charged if it is found that the shooting was not justified.\u003c/p>\n\u003cp>Monday's protest was scheduled for 4:30 p.m. on the platform of the Civic Center station. Several dozen people had gathered at the station by 4:45 p.m., and BART safety officers in green vests had a notable presence on the train platform.\u003c/p>\n\u003cp>[ad fullwidth]\u003c/p>\n\u003cp>BART police in riot gear monitored the situation and had non-lethal weapons ready.\u003c/p>\n\u003cp>By 5:15 p.m. the crowd had thickened and began chanting \"No justice, no peace, disband the BART police\" and \"Cops, pigs, murderers.\"\u003c/p>\n\u003cp>Once one East Bay-bound train inched into the station, some protesters boarded the train and began banging on the train's windows. Paramedics took the suspect to the hospital, where he later died around 10:45 a.m.\u003c/p>\n\u003cp>The two officers were responding to reports of a “wobbly drunk” near the train platform at about 9:30 p.m., Johnson said. "content": "\u003cp>Donna Doyle, the mother of “baggy pants” arrestee Deshon Marman, appeared today with members of the NAACP at the Third Baptist Church in San Francisco. Doyle and Amos Brown, president of the NAACP’s San Francisco chapter, spoke about the case at a press conference. \u003c/p>\n\u003cp>Doyle put the blame for the incident on US Airways, the airline that her 20-year-old son, a University of New Mexico football player, was removed from in a conflict over his pants. The pants, which Marman says were pajamas, were allegedly hanging low enough to expose his underwear. Marman was arrested on suspicion of battery on a police officer, resisting arrest, and trespassing, but the San Mateo County DA is still deciding whether to charge him. \u003c/p>\n\u003cp>Brown said that Marman was a victim of racial profiling and called for the airline to put its employees through sensitivity training. \u003c!--more-->\u003c/p>\n\u003cp>Both Doyle and Brown cited the \u003ca href=\"http://ww2.kqed.org/news/2011/06/22/us-airways-passenger-wearing-womens-underwear/\">cross-dressing frequent US Airways flyer\u003c/a> who has attracted attention over the past few days as evidence of a double standard by the airline.\u003c/p>\n\u003cp>Here is audio of some of Brown and Doyle’s comments, followed by an edited transcript. Nothing was done to talk to this yong man, to get to know him. \u003c/p>\n\u003cp>The main thing that happened here was you had a ticket agent who didn’t like the way he looked, and because she didn’t like the way he looked, she went after him. He hadn’t done anything, he hadn’t touched anybody, he hadn’t cursed anybody out. He hadn’t said a word. She just didn’t like the way he looked. So it was a question of walking while black, with some pants down. \u003c/p>\n\u003cp>\u003cem>Donna Doyle, mother of Deshon Marman\u003c/em>\u003c/p>\n\u003cp>You know I said I wasn’t going to say anything. But the whole thing began with the ticket agent, and like Reverend Brown stated, it started with the ticket agent not liking the way my son looked. When it went to the stewardess and the flight attendant, the flight attendant I feel, should have defused it… If he did have his underwear showing, you no longer saw them because his behind was in the seat. So at that point he became no longer a threat to anyone, because his butt was down. \u003c/p>\n\u003cp>The captain took it upon himself to come down the aisle out of his cabin to address the matter, not to defuse it, to address it and escalate. He escalated this drama. If you listen to the young man’s tape that recorded it, my son stated I don’t know how many times, “no sir, I’m sitting sir. Sir I didn’t do anything. Sir I’m like everyone else.” “No you’re not like everyone else.” Well what does he mean? I don’t’ know. What does he mean you’re not like everyone else? \u003c/p>\n\u003cp>So I truly feel had the pilot defused it, we wouldn’t be here today. He added to all of this. There was a sheriff there that stated that Deshon was not disrespectful. He wasn’t defiant in any way. \u003c/p>\n\u003cp>The saggy pants itself — I’m a mother of four sons, I don’t approve of it. They’re boys, it’s a trend. But these clothes are marketed. These people are making big money off these children. And then you turn around and not only criminalize the African American with these clothes, but you have to remember, we’re not the only ones who wear them. You have the Asians that wear them, you have the white boys that wear them, you have the Latinos and the rest of them that wear them. But you don’t go after these children like you’ve gone after our children. And that needs to stop. You don’t judge a book by its cover and that’s what they did. They judged my son by his attire of what he wore and that was unacceptable.\n\u003c/p>\u003c/blockquote>\n\u003cp>Here, Donna Doyle says she doesn’t condone her son’s attire, but that it’s his choice.
