Animator Chuck JonesAnimator Chuck Jones. The new film Coyote vs. ACME is based on the classic Warner Brothers cartoons featuring the Roadrunner and Wile E. Coyote. Jones created them, helped develop other characters, and directed many Looney Tunes cartoons. Jones worked at Warner Brothers from 1933 until the studio closed down its cartoon division in 1963. He then formed his own production company, and kept producing and directing until his death in 2002. Terry Gross spoke to him in 1989. Jones also wrote an autobiography called “Chuckamuck.” That title is borrowed from “Duckamuck,” which was the cartoon Jones made about cartooning. (This interview originally aired in October of 1989.)
