As ‘Grantchester’ Winds Down, Preview the Final Episode with High Tea at KQED

Promotional image for Grantchester showing Geordie Keating (Robson Green) and Alphy Kottaram (Rishi Nair) standing side by side inside a church. Geordie wears a brown pinstripe suit and striped tie, while Alphy wears a black clerical suit with a white collar. They face the camera with serious expressions, framed by stained-glass windows, pews, and tall candelabras in the softly lit background. A yellow wavy graphic runs across the image, and a KQED Live logo appears in the upper-right corner.

KQED Live Presents a Cozy, British Mystery-Themed High Tea with an Exclusive Preview of the Grantchester on MASTERPIECE Finale

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — Even though the final season of Grantchester just kicked off, mystery fans everywhere are already mourning the end of the iconic MASTERPIECE series that follows the unlikely crime-solving duo of vicar Alphy Kottaram (Rishi Nair) and a world-weary police detective, Geordie Keating (Robson Green) in the 1950s-60s Cambridgeshire village of Grantchester.

In the new season, which premiered on June 14, it’s the heady Summer of ’63. Alphy is learning more about his past and comes to realize that there is a whole other life he could have led, making him question who he is and what he believes in. He’s also continuing to get to know Meg, the Bishop’s daughter. Geordie, for once, is positively brimming with bonhomie! He’s learned to weather the storms of life and is enjoying a time of relative peace. But the Chief Superintendent comes to Geordie with a surprising and beguiling offer: a chance for Geordie to finally be in charge. But it could also mean an end to his crime-solving days and his partnership with Alphy.

To celebrate the conclusion of this beloved series, KQED members are invited to a cozy, British mystery-themed high tea. Savor a proper English tea service with nibbles from Lovejoy’s Tea Room, then step into the Cambridgeshire countryside with a costume promenade before enjoying a sneak preview of the series finale from Masterpiece days before it premieres on KQED. It’s an elegant afternoon of intrigue, nostalgia, and community, with tea time.

Will Alphy act out on his burgeoning feelings with Meg? And will his and Geordie’s investigative end? Find out with a community of fellow Grantchester friends and members at the special KQED Live member event Masterpiece Mystery High Tea: Grantchester Series Finale on July 29, 2026.

Season 11 of Grantchester on MASTERPIECE airs each Sunday at 9pm on KQED 9 through August 2, 2026. Stream the previous season to catch up and stream new Season 11 episodes weekly on the PBS App, or binge the entire final season with KQED Passport.
