Watch Live: Connie Chan, Scott Wiener Debate for SF Congressional Seat
San Francisco Supervisor Connie Chan and state Sen. Scott Wiener meet live onstage Thursday night at KQED for a critical debate, just days before ballots start arriving in the mail for the November election.
The two Democrats, both steeped in San Francisco politics, are running for the House seat held for nearly four decades by Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi — marking the first time in years that the race has been truly competitive. The winner will be a voice for San Francisco in Washington on issues such as foreign policy, taxation and federal regulation.
Co-hosted by KQED’s Scott Shafer and Marisa Lagos and The San Francisco Chronicle’s Joe Garofoli, the debate is set to begin at 7:30 p.m. and will be livestreamed on the KQED Live YouTube page. It will explore issues facing the city, such as affordability, tech and the economy, immigration, foreign conflicts and the role of San Francisco in national politics.
In addition to the livestream, the debate will be recorded for later broadcast on radio at KQED 88.5FM on Friday at 8 p.m. and on television on KQED 9 on Oct. 9 at 8 p.m., as well as for podcast feeds as a special episode of KQED’s Political Breakdown dropping Saturday morning.
