"content": "\u003cp>\u003cspan style=\"font-weight: 400\">Robb Godshaw makes artwork that is conceptual and, as he describes, “Uses technical means to move things that can’t be moved, or make visible things that aren’t normally visible.” During an artist residency at SF Recology, which houses San Francisco’s dump, Godshaw scavenged electronic waste, most of which was functional. He turned old televisions into microscopes and made a powerful rainbow generator, upcycling e-waste to create illuminated kinetic sculptures and installations. Finally.\u003c/p>\n\u003cp>After a seemingly endless barrage of political rallies, candidate debates and corn dog-scarfing photo-ops, the Hawkeye State is about to kick-start the 2016 presidential nominating process on Monday when it hosts the nation's first statewide caucuses. \u003c!--more-->\u003c/p>\n\u003cp>So, what the heck is a caucus, anyway? Why does Iowa always get first dibs? And how is it different from a primary -- like the one happening in New Hampshire on February 9?\u003c/p>\n\u003cp>These three videos, from around the Web, do a good job explaining this, so I'll keep the word count short. The basic skinny: every four years during U.S. presidential elections, all 50 states, Washington, D.C. and some U.S. territories (like Guam and Puerto Rico) choose a Democratic and Republican candidate. The candidates from each party are then represented by that state's assigned number of delegates in the national party conventions.\u003c/p>\n\u003cp>Most states hold primaries, where voters cast secret ballots (like in the general election). Students work together to identify the engineering problem and criteria by researching areas where houses are often destroyed by these natural disasters, and then design, test and build models. The lesson plan contains suggested modifications to the activity based on grade level and time available.
