In June of 1812, the young United States declared war on Great Britain and for two and a half years, Americans fought against the British, Canadian colonists and Native nations. In the years to come, the War of 1812 would be celebrated in some areas and essentially forgotten in others. But it is a war worth remembering - a struggle that threatened Canada's existence and divided the United States so deeply that the nation almost broke apart. Some of its battles and heroes became legendary, yet its blunders and cowards were just as prominent. THE WAR OF 1812 examines the conflict that shaped the destiny of a continent, revealing how the glories of war become enshrined in history while failures are quickly forgotten, and inconvenient truths ignored forever.

RED STORM RISING: THE STRUGGLE FOR THE AMERICAN COMMUNIST PARTY chronicles the complex history of the Communist Party USA (CPUSA), from its formation in the early 20th century through its rise, influence and eventual decline. Though never a major political force, the CPUSA played a role in American politics, the labor movement and the cultural life of many workers. Under the leadership of Earl Browder (1932-1945) and William Z. Foster (1945-1957), the Communists attempted to build a mass radical movement, and in the process achieved respectability previously unknown and now frequently forgotten. Despite their close collaboration, Browder and Foster eventually became each other's nemesis as they struggled to address the challenges presented by the Industrial Revolution. Their relationship reveals how inner squabbling in a political movement can affect its influence and ultimate success. More broadly, RED STORM RISING explores the ideals, struggles and contradictions of a movement that challenged the status quo and left a lasting, if often overlooked, mark on U.S. politics.

Follow a group of students from the Washington Urban Debate League as they fight to find their voices in a world that too often tries to silence them. Against the backdrop of a city marked by inequality-and in the lingering shadow of the COVID pandemic-these young debaters confront daily challenges that range from housing instability to neurodivergence. For some, debate is a path to college. For others, it's a lifeline. We meet them at summer camp, where their journey begins-not just to win tournaments, but to sharpen arguments that reflect their own lives. One girl, autistic and fearless, demands the world see people with special needs as whole. Others argue for economic policy reforms while navigating poverty themselves. As multiple seasons unfold, Immutable captures the grit, intellect, and heart of students who are determined to not only become top-tier debaters but to alter the seemingly immutable facts of their lives.

In the early 1980s, a mysterious wave of illnesses emerged. Strange infections. Rare cancers. Mostly in young men. Doctors were baffled. Families were terrified. And an entire community began to lose many of its own. What started as confusion turned to crisis; tens of thousands would die stigmatized and forgotten in one of the most devastating public health emergencies of our time, FROM FEAR TO HOPE: THE HIV AND AIDS JOURNEY tells the story of how it began and how it changed everything. The hour-long film takes viewers inside the desperate search for answers: the race to identify a deadly virus, the struggle to treat it, and the relentless fight to be heard. The films focus on the scientists and medical professionals fighting to treat and cure HIV and AIDs as well as the activists who protested the government's mistreatment of the epidemic.

Set against the lead-up to a stage play based on the same story, FOR THE LOVE OF FRIENDS is a documentary that blends performance rehearsal clips with interview and archival footage to highlight the remarkable life and work of activist Brent Nicholson Earle. At the height of the AIDS epidemic, Brent refused to watch his friends suffer due to government inaction and public ignorance about the disease. His audacious response in 1986 was to embark on a 10, 000-mile run around the perimeter of the United States to draw attention to the plight of AIDS patients. He performed this remarkable feat amid public backlash, a homophobic media blackout, his own health challenges, and an inconvenient lack of any long-distance training. After enduring blisters, exhaustion, ignorance and fear, he returns home to his own HIV diagnosis. Though the run finishes, Brent's activism never stops.

ARTHUR is based on the best-selling children's books by Marc Brown. The series revolves around an eight year-old aardvark, his four year-old sister DW, and their family and friends. ARTHUR is a show about being a kid, exploring the world, and finding your place in it. It's about kids finding inner strengths, learning to make choices for themselves, taking responsibility for them and of course, having fun. In each episode, Arthur and his gang guide us through stories that deal with real "kid issues" -- timeless difficulties and joys that all kids experience. The series also models the joys and rewards of literacy by presenting the many ways kids and adults incorporate reading and writing into their lives. Above all, ARTHUR is a comedy that tells its stories from a kids' point of view, never moralizing or talking down to them.

I am Helen Keller Yadina becomes increasingly frustrated as she tries to read a book to Dr. Zoom, but has to keep stopping since it has words in it she doesn't know. Learning to read is SO hard - she feels like she'll never be able to do it. Xavier knows just what his little sister needs to the Secret Museum! Our heroes travel back in time to meet someone truly incredible, who had to overcome a whole lot to learn how to do just about anything: Helen Keller. Watching Helen first learn what words are, then how to read, and finally how to speak, all in her own unique way, inspires Yadina to go home and try to find her own way to learn to read. Because, as Helen shows her, there are many different ways to learn. Curriculum: "There are many different ways to learn" I am Alexander Graham Bell Losing his voice is frustrating enough for Brad, but it doesn't help matters when Xavier and Yadina do all the talking for him instead of trying to listen. To the Secret Museum! Brad takes his friends back in time to meet someone who worked his whole life to help people be heard: Alexander Graham Bell. Watching Alexander first help his deaf mother, then his whole school of deaf students, have their voices heard in any way they can, helps Xavier and Yadina realize that they should've tried harder to listen to Brad, even when they couldn't technically hear him. It's important to listen to everyone. Curriculum: "Listen to everyone."
