Strategic Priority: Television

KQED is committed to sustaining its leadership as the Bay Area’s trusted source for information and inspiration. Through a rich and expanding television experience across live broadcast, on-demand, and streaming platforms, we meet viewers wherever they are—whether tuning in to KQED 9 and KQED Plus, discovering content on their own schedule, or enjoying PBS KIDS programming with their families.
Strengthening Broadcast, Expanding Access
We will continue to deliver high-quality, award-winning programming while creating seamless pathways to digital access. By deepening the connection between national and local content, promoting accessible PBS KIDS offerings, and expanding engagement opportunities, KQED invites viewers to interact with producers, fellow audiences, and the stories that matter most.
Bringing Audiences Closer to the Programs They Love
Key initiatives include building engagement campaigns around iconic local and national series to provide viewers and fans opportunities for deeper connections to the programs they love, while bringing greater visibility to Bay Area stories that reflect the richness of our community. Campaigns will amplify both broadcast and streaming experiences, showcasing the depth and diversity of KQED’s content library.
Rewarding and Connecting Our Community
We will create more opportunities for KQED members to receive exclusive early access to new programming and curated favorites through Passport, encouraging membership, retention, and exploration of our multi-genre content. Engagement will extend beyond the screen with interactive opportunities such as meet-ups for drama and mystery fans, independent film screenings, and live conversations and demonstrations with beloved hosts—bringing communities closer to the stories they love.
