Check, Please! Bay Area Took Home a Northern California Regional Emmy for a Special Golden State Warriors-Themed Episode
September 1, 2026; San Francisco, CA – KQED’s James Beard Award-winning series Check, Please! Bay Area was honored with an Emmy® Award, presented at the 55th Annual Northern California Area Emmy Awards Ceremony last week. The program that typically brings together ordinary people to discuss their favorite restaurants was honored in the Talk Show (Short or Long Form) Category for one of its 20th anniversary episodes, which featured former Golden State Warriors Festus Ezeli, Adonal Foyle and Trayce Jackson-Davis. The episode was part of a slate of fall 2025 Check, Please! Bay Area episodes that included local celebrities and storytellers, as well as an insider’s look back at the iconic local food show’s 20 years.
The Check, Please! Bay Area production team honored for the episode includes host Leslie Sbrocco, series producer Lori Halloran, coordinating producer/reporter Cecilia Phillips, associate producer Candice Yung, photographers Peter Ruocco and Scott Stoneback, editors Christopher Schultz and Aaron Drury, studio director Henry Rubin, and technical director Rick Santangelo.
Check, Please! Bay Area coordinating producer/reporter Cecilia Philiips was also nominated in the Host Category for her work on the Check, Please! spinoff video series Cecilia Tries It, where she explores off‑the‑beaten‑path food spots across the Bay Area, offering fans culturally rich and diverse culinary experiences.
