Clueless, the film that taught us to beware of flying clogs and brake for animals, is almost 20 years old (yeah, feel old). But the cinematic classic hasn't lost any of its essence, as evidenced by every time your friend drops a quote from the movie (every single day). For most of us born after 1980, Clueless is a sacred text we come back to again and again, one that carries a ton of nostalgic weight for our entire generation. It reminds us of the carefree time of our youth, when we were scandalized by suck and blow and didn't get that "herbal refreshment" joke. It taught us how to be ourselves. So it's no wonder that there is interest in paying homage to the 1995 masterpiece.
Australian rapper Iggy Azalea is about to have you totally buggin' over her music video for "Fancy," which recreates key Clueless scenes using the actual high school from the movie! She recruits Charli XCX as her way harsh bestie Tai. Nose casts, the Val party, the gym class line, it's all here. I was brushing my teeth when I watched this for the first time and became so engrossed that I drooled toothpaste foam all over my pants. It's that good.
Clueless is a cultural artifact best enjoyed with your community. Peaches Christ gets that and has orchestrated a drag show based on the movie, starring RuPaul's Drag Race alum Willam Belli as Cher Horowitz. Anyone who caught Christ's drag rendition of The Craft last year can tell you how phat this is going to be. So do yourself a favor, put on your Alaia, and make a cameo at this throwback party on March 8, 2014! Just make sure your ride home isn't a snob and a half.
