Legislators Consider Same-Day Voter Registration
Nearly 17 million Californians are registered to vote, but just a third of them are expected to do so in today's primary. That's the prediction of a Field Poll released this morning, and it comes as no surprise. Low turnout is common for primaries. A bill making its way through the state Capitol seeks to boost the voter rolls by making it possible to register at the polls.
NUMMI Workers to Get Additional Aid
The federal government plans to provide emergency funds to help re-train former workers and suppliers of NUMMI, the Fremont-based auto plant which closed in April.
