The results of last night's primary will pit the state's most seasoned politician, Jerry Brown, against the state's most wealthy newcomer, Meg Whitman, in the November race for governor. And despite a combined $62 million in spending, two measures placed on the ballot by big corporations failed to win approval from voters.
Election 2010: Senate Primary
In the Republican primary for Senate, Carly Fiorina, the former CEO of Hewlett Packard, used her money and connections to wallop former Congressman Tom Campbell and State Assemblyman Chuck DeVore. Fiorina will face incumbent Democratic Senator Barbara Boxer.
