Prison Reduction Plan Heads to High Court
The U.S. Supreme Court has agreed to hear an appeal from Governor Schwarzenegger of a judicial order that would force the state to cut its prison population by some 40,000 inmates.

Should Corporations Spend Shareholders' Money On Ballot Measures?
Election officials around the state are still tallying the final votes from last week's local and statewide races. But one thing is clear: it was an expensive election, especially for the two corporations that failed to get voters to approve ballot measures they sponsored. A bill in the state legislature would allow shareholders to get a refund when corporations sponsor such measures in the future.
