Closing arguments get underway in Los Angeles today in the trial of former BART police officer Johannes Mehserle. Mehserle fatally shot an unarmed passenger, Oscar Grant, at an Oakland BART station last New Year's Day. Meanwhile, Oakland is bracing for a verdict -- hoping violence doesn't erupt as it did following the shooting.
