Prop. 25
When voting ended in the Assembly and Senate on October 8th, so did the longest budget stalemate in state history. Backers of Prop. 25 say that's a perfect setup for voters to take action. The measure seeks to undo what voters put in place 77 years ago: the mandate of a supermajority budget vote in each house of the Legislature.

Prop. 26
Another budget measure, Prop. 26 would redefine many fees as taxes, requiring a two-thirds vote to pass them rather than a simple majority. The proposition is stirring up a hornet's nest, especially at the local level.
