Prop. 8 Goes to Court -- Again
A federal courtroom in San Francisco will be the latest battleground over Proposition 8, California's ban on same-sex marriage. This past summer, a federal judge struck down the measure, saying it discriminated against gay and lesbian couples for no good reason and violated the U.S. constitution. Supporters of Prop 8 appealed, and oral arguments in the case will be heard this morning by the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Legislature Back to Work
Newly elected members of the California Legislature take the oath of office later today at the state Capitol. And unlike most years, this will not be a purely ceremonial start to the new legislative session.
