Orange County Town Goes From Beach to Mud
Several Southern California communities are busy digging out of the mud today after of the worst storm system to hit the region in five years. Experts were predicting wildfire-scarred hillsides in Los Angeles County would give way first, but instead, the center of destruction was Laguna Beach in Orange County.

Oakland Shelves Plan for Giant Pot Farms
Earlier this year the Oakland City Council rejected legal warnings from its own attorney and approved an ordinance to license four enormous medical marijuana cultivation centers. Supporters were hoping to bring order to the chaotic pot growing scene and raise millions in tax revenue. But this week, on the eve of the deadline for permit applications, the city hit the brakes.
