Bell Fraud Prompts Statewide Legislation
Officials accused of misusing more than $1 billion in public funds in the city of Bell are back in court today. And a bipartisan group of state lawmakers unveiled new legislation meant to prevent future financial abuses by local governments.

Execution Chamber Tour
U.S. District Court Judge Jeremy Fogel, prison officials and attorneys for inmates and the state took about an hour to inspect the new execution facility at San Quentin State Prison. Fogel halted executions in California five years ago, and says he wants to decide "as soon as possible" whether the state can resume them.
