It may not have the appeal of, say, Lady Gaga, but the Giants World Series Trophy is going on tour.

Spanning the Bay Area from Santa Cruz to Sonoma, and ranging as far as Medford, OR; Scottsdale, AZ, Cooperstown, and New York City, the tour -- known affectionately as The World Champions Trophy Tour Presented by Visa ® -- will run from January to May.

And in case you were thinking of getting a little intimate with the symbol of that thing you've been dreaming of since Bobby Richardson snagged that McCovey line-drive in 1962, think again. From the Frequently Asked Questions page on the Giants' site:

Can I touch the Trophy?
A. The Trophy will NOT BE ALLOWED to be touched by anyone, except the designated handler and security personnel who will accompany the Trophy at all times.

No word yet on whether the Trophy will be made available for press interviews.
