State Budget Deliberations Continue
The Legislature is expected to resume budget deliberations later today after two days of voting -- and arguing -- about Gov. Jerry Brown's plan to erase a deficit of more than $26 billion. Only a portion of that proposal has been ratified by the Legislature, and the fate of the rest of Brown's plan remains unclear.

Predictive modeling of the radioactive plume coming from Japanese reactors suggests the first isotopes might reach Southern California today. A wide variety of scientists doubt the level of radiation will be high enough to be harmful, unless there's a nuclear meltdown in Japan.
