Scientists are still trying to figure out what caused six tons of sardines to go belly-up off Ventura late last month. In March, a similar event happened off Newport Beach. Those sardines tested positive for a neurotoxin caused by algae blooms. It appears to be a growing problem, but nobody's exactly sure why.
