Redistricting Commission Finalizes Plans
The 14 men and women picked to draw California's political districts are expected to put a final seal of approval on their work today. The maps created by the Citizens Redistricting Commission mark the formal end of the process, though the maps may be challenged in court or on the ballot.

Protecting the Less Glamorous Fish
For more than a decade now, California's most valuable fishery hasn't been salmon or Dungeness crab. It's been squid. The Legislature is considering a bill today that would give more protection to squid and other so-called "bait fish" like sardines and anchovies.
