Bakersfield's McCarthy Rises to Power in House

Now in his third term in Congress, Bakersfield Republican Kevin McCarthy is the House Whip, the number three leadership position there. The 46-year-old McCarthy is a leader of the co-called Young Guns in Congress, a group which criticizes pork and earmarks and blames old-guard Republicans for allowing the federal debt to balloon during the Bush administration.
