California port officials will work through the backlog of shipping today, after protesters disrupted port operations from San Diego to Alaska. Organizers say ports represent modern day robber barons, benefiting the economic elite and facilitating globalization. But port officials say the demonstrations mostly hurt working-class employees and independent contractors like truck drivers.
