It can take a lot of time -- and money -- to decorate your house with Christmas lights and other ornaments. But if you live on Thompson Avenue in Alameda, you don't have much choice in the matter. Since 1938 residents of that block-long street have taken Christmas decorations to a whole new level. The tradition runs so deep that the quaint, middle class street is commonly known as Christmas Tree Lane.
