Program May Help Reduce Women Prison Population
Part of Governor Jerry Brown's budget proposal envisions expanding a program that lets women prisoners serve the last two years of their sentences at home. The administration estimates the expansion would save the state up to $6 million a year, and help California meet a court order to dramatically reduce its prison population.
