Yesterday's ruling by the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals struck down Proposition 8, the voter-approved ban on same-sex marriage, and gave many Californians a reason to celebrate. But the decision won't go into effect immediately, and many observers expect the case to end up in the U.S. Supreme Court.
