Former computer programmer Ellen Ullman made her name as an author 15 years ago writing about technology and how we relate to it. In her first novel in nine years, Ullman slips out of that domain to spin a tense tale of obsession and identity set in 1970s San Francisco. Oscar Villalon has a review.
