Tuesday night, the Senate Budget Committee approved $10.5 million to open and operate two new veterans' homes in Fresno and Redding. But Governor Jerry Brown's budget proposal doesn't provide for the homes, meaning they might not open for another two years. About 200 vets and their supporters rallied in front of the empty Fresno home yesterday.
