New CSU Campus Presidents Get $300K+ Salaries
The California State University Board of Trustees welcomed three new campus presidents Tuesday by giving them hefty pay raises. Private funding will be raised for the salary bumps, but in an era of tuition hikes and teacher cuts, the move is controversial.

At Local Health Care Districts, Allegations of Self-Dealing
Many Californians are unaware of the existence of their local health care district. The taxpayer-funded bodies operate nursing homes and hospitals and distribute grants to health programs. An investigation by The Bay Citizen found some instances where board members voted on contracts in which they had a personal stake.
