Parents Help Fill School Supply Void
With school budgets tightening, school-approved supply lists have become widespread in California. Teachers and principals are banking on parents buying items not only for their child, but to also stock classroom cabinets.

Bill Requires Doctors' Visit to Opt-Out of Vaccinations
Childhood vaccinations are part of the back-to-school ritual -- except for parents who want to forgo the vaccinations for religious or health reasons. Until now, they could simply file a statement with their school. But this week, the Senate passed AB 2109, requiring parents who wish to opt-out to meet with a health care provider to talk about risks and benefits of vaccines.
