Over the past few days, a lot of high-profile Californians have been taking the podium at the Democratic National Convention. Attorney General Kamala Harris made the case for President Obama on Wednesday night, while touting her own campaign to win accountability from banks for their role in the housing crisis.

CalSTRS Warned to Watch Out for Pension Spiking
A new report from the state controller takes the California State Teachers' Retirement System (CalSTRS) to task for failing to watch for people padding their pensions in advance of retirement. The findings come just a few days after state lawmakers sent the governor a reform proposal on this very issue.
