Back in the days of vinyl, before CDs were king, a record's fate could rise or fall on the strength of its cover art. On his new CD, "Roads & Codes," Bay Area trumpeter Ian Carey has put almost as much creative energy into the album's package as his music. Jazz critic Andrew Gilbert has a review.
